Matt de Simone loves comic books and sports–namely: pro-wrestling.. He’s spent three quarters of his life on Earth reading, absorbing, and understanding the comic book medium. Superman, The X-Men, Batman, and Spider-Man not only entertained him, they were his “best pals.” In those seemingly childish tales, his beliefs were molded by the cautionary adventures of the Superheroes.

His friends all dreamed to one day become surgeons, computer programmers, and business owners. Matt wanted to enter a professional wrestling ring. A few years following high school graduation, Matt would spend the next 10 years as an active pro-wrestler for independent wrestling promotions in the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S.

de Simone’s understanding of comic book and prose styles, plot structures, and continuity gives him a valuable edge when it comes to developing new stories and characters. As pro-wrestler, Matt utilized his knowledge of storytelling putting it to use while he helped spin the stories and drama in the wrestling ring. His focus on morality and life changing decisions evoke a recognizable and reassuring feeling of hope and familiarity for the current readers of his articles and stories.

Years of research, knowledge, and true love for the comic book and sports medium drove him to earn a B.F.A. in Creative Writing for Entertainment from Full Sail University. de Simone hosts a weekly podcast , MattyLovesPodcast, covering comic book news and other topics within the realm of Geek Culture. His writing and podcasts have led to the creation of MattyLoves.com – dedicated to sharing his own love for comics.

At the end of the day, Matt de Simone was simply born to write about comic books and pro-wrestling.
